Visit Scotland – it’s not that bad

“And our whale-cum is warm. Very warm.”
Sorry. Comment above? Childish. Unacceptable. Withdrawn.
There are two things that I think are funny about Visit Scotland’s new spot. The first is the idea of what might constitute a warm welcome in Glasgow, where a friend of mine was once attacked in a dark alley with a sword.
The second is to be found at 1:06. Listen to the tone in Neil Oliver’s voice:
“So this year, surprise yourself. Visit Scot-land.”
As if it’s a totally ridiculous concept. A craaaazy idea. “Sure, it’s shite. But what the hell. It might nae be that bad.”
What a campaign. A shame, really – Scotland is great. But it’s not particularly friendly, or full of good food, or given over to beautiful weather. Scotland is great because it’s the only badass rugged wilderness on an island where even the forests are parks.
I wonder how many easyJet tickets “climb a mountain and get pissed with the Gaelics” would sell? Probably more than this safe stuff.
